Our Syllabus

Dua Book

We have a strict comprehensive syllabus which conforms to the Jamiatal Ulama Transvaal Taalimi Board of South Africa as well as Jamiat Taalimi Board of KZN. Most of our text books are from the Jamiat in Fordsburgh, Gauteng. We use the Tas-heel Series from Grades One to Grade Twelve. This covers all the subjects from Qur’aan (Qaa’idah), Surahs, Dua’s, Ahadeeth, Fiqh, Aqaaid, Akhlaaq & Adaab, Taareekh / Seerah and Tafseer. There are also specialist books on certain topics that are not from either Taalimi Board that we use for the higher grades. This is done where attention to a specific and/or urgent topic needs to addressed.

We also teach The Asmaa al Husnaa (99 Glorious Names of Allah) which is compulsory for ALL students to memorise. Memorising of Quraan is only done on the last Juz (30th Para – Amma Para) but if a student has completed his/her Juz Amma, then there is room for memorising of other surahs. Surahs Yaaseen, Mulk and Sajdah are usually memorised around Grade 10 before completion of entire Juz Amma. So all students stop at al Ghaashiyah, then start Surah Yaaseen, etc. This is done at the individual pace of the students. Once the students know their memorised surahs without any mistakes and with tajweed, only then are they allowed to continue to another surah. For those who find it a bit difficult, they stick to revision of Surahs al Faatihah & an Naas up to al Ghaashiyah if they can manage till there. Again a considerable amount of effort is made to get the students to reach the goal of memorising up to al Ghaashiyah. For those who just cannot get there… revision, revision, revision.

We have however developed our own Grade R syllabus called The Young Minds Series which is a compilation of various text books. This series can also be ordered from us as we do our own printing and book designs. We have also made our own Dua Book adapted for our madrasah. The Du’a kitaab has been improved as has the Young Minds Series. Its compulsory for each student to use our Grade R syllabus.

The Young Mind Series:
The Young Minds Series is a set of four books at Pre-School (Grade R) level. It consists of a Workbook, Huroof Colouring Book, Activity Book, and a Huroof Activity Book.

The Workbook is a syllabus which includes the necessary subjects (AqaaId, Fiqh, Akhlaaq and Aadaab, Taareekh and Seerah, and Ahaadeeth). It aims to give children an introduction to Islam and an understanding of who Muslims are and what is required of them at this age. It also contains subject text of the lessons as well as simple recall type exercises. It is a wonderful foundation for the building of a comprehensive Islamic education.

The Huroof Colouring Book is an arabic alphabet book incorporated with arabic vocabulary for each alphabet. It’s fun and simple, yet with the turning of each page an arabic word is learnt with each new letter.

The Activity Book is designed to stimulate the minds of children. We have included many interesting activities to help children build their problem-solving, decision making and reasoning skills. These activities should help in everyday life experience of the child.

The Huroof Activity Book engages students in writing the arabic alphabet. It includes writing activities along with some problem-solving activities. It is aimed at manipulation of writing tools as well as recognition and differentiation of the various huroof. It is a good resource to teach children basic writing of the arabic language.
