We have entered the seventh month of the Islamic lunar calendar.
This month was regarded as one of the sacred months (Al-Ash-hur-ul-Hurum) in which battles were prohibited in the days of the Messenger Muhammad (SallAllaahu ‘Alayhi wa Sallam). It is a prelude to the month of Ramadaan, because Ramadan follows it after the intervening month of Sha’baan.
Rajab means preparing for the month of Ramadaan. How so? If we gear ourselves for routine waking up for Qiyaam-ul Layl and voluntary fasting or keeping of missed fasts, then Ramadaan will be easy for us.
Yet no specific way of worship has been prescribed by the Shari’ah in this month. Just increase in worship and spirituality while keeping in the the boundaries of the Sunnah.
May Allah make the next three months blessed for us all. Pray for those oppressed all over the world, the hungry, widowed, orphaned, for all the Masaakeen. Pray for clean hearts, truthful tongues and righteousness. May Allah guide us and have mercy on us all.
