Takbeer Tashreeq 2012 / 1433 AH

Don’t forget your Takbeer Tashreeq which starts from today 9th Dhul-Hijjah after Salaat-al Fajr (coinciding with 25 October 2012) to the 13th Dhul-Hijjah (coinciding with 29 October 2012) after Salaat-al ‘Asr. Also called Takbeer al-Muqayyid one should make this Takbeer once after every obligatory (fard) Salaah. The Takbeeraat will be recited for twenty three Salaah in total.

Ibn Abee Shaibah relates that ‘Ali (RadiyAllahu ‘anhu) used to make the Takbeer beginning after the Fajr prayer on the day of ‘Arafah, until after the ‘Asr prayer on the last day of at-Tashreeq.” [(Saheeh) by Shaikh al-Albanee in al-Irwa. Related by Ibn Abee Shaybah in al-Musannaf]

*Please note that “Allaahu Akbar” may be said two or three times*

As regards to the actual wording of the Takbeers,the following have been reported from the Sahaabah (RadiyAllahu ‘anhum):

1. ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ood (RadiyAllahu ‘anhumaa): “Allaahu Akbar, Allaahu Akbar, Laa ilaaha illa Allah, Allaahu Akbar, Allaahu Akbar wa lillaahil-Hamd.” [(Saheeh) Irwaa al-Ghaleel (650), Darqutnee, Ibn Shaibah] (Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, There is none worthy of worship except Allah. Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest and to Allah belongs all praises)

2. ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbaas (RadiyAllahu ‘anhumaa): “Allaahu Akbar, Allaahu Akbar, Allaahu Akbar wa lillahil-Hamd; Allaahu Akbar wa-ajal, Allaahu akbaru ala mahadana.” [(Saheeh) – Bayhaqee (3/315)] (Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest and to Allah belongs all praises. Allah is the Greatest to that which He has guided us to)

3. Salmaan (RadhiyAllahu ‘anhu) : “Allaahu Akbar, Allaahu Akbar, Allaahu Akbar kabeera.” [(saheeh) – Bayhaqee (3/316)] (Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest)
