A M9-class solar flare erupted on the Sun’s northern hemisphere at 3:49 UT yesterday (23 Jan 2012) which is expected to hit Earth today (24 jan 2012) at around 2pm to 3pm. It is estimated that the flare will hit particularly South Africa at this time because of the low magnetic field at this part of the earth. South Africans are warned and advised to stay out of the sun from 2pm to 3pm today.
There is no confirmation as to what the extent of the damage will be but it is estimated that the flare could cause massive disruptions in communications, electricity, the internet and of course mobile communications. For those thinking that 2012 means the end of the world due to solar flare eruptions… Even at their worst, the sun’s flares are not physically capable of destroying Earth (according to scientific information). Allah Azza wa Jall however is able to whatsoever HE desires.
This image shows the flare being emitted from the Sun. The Sun is approximately 190 times bigger than the Earth and is about 150 million kilometers away. It is ONLY through the mercy of Allah that….. Click here to Read More

Alhamdulillah we have finally updated our complete student list. Madrasah Ummul Hasanaat has grown from strength to strength and we have you – the parents, the students and of course Allah ‘Azza wa Jall to thank. “We try to train the minds of our children so that they know what Allah requires from them but we emphasise on sincerity to Allah firstly.” says Muallimah Sa’uda.
May Allah use this maktab to spread and teach HIS deen to our children so that they in turn have the ability to teach not just their children, but to give da’wah ila Allah and spread tableegh of Deen throughout the world – Insha’allah.

“Children don’t choose where they are born, to whom they are born, what type of government rules them, what type of context within which they will grow up, thrive and survive. There is a moral obligation to respond in this crisis. We are all human beings.”

We are coming closer to the end of the year. Some of our students are parting from us, most are remaining, others are joining for the next year we hope to see Insha’allah.
It has been challenging and great educating the kids, but rewarding as always. The Mu’allimahs have done fantastic jobs. Mu’allimah Fahdia has shown great initiative with new ways of learning for the kids in her class. Ma’sha’allah! Most important is the link between parent and teacher. Without that, great students will never be. Here’s some food for thought parents…
What’s the most important thing a parent needs to raise a child?
Money? That will not last forever. So what will?
AN EDUCATED HEART!
Educating the heart is done by teaching Life’s Lessons – the overriding principles that govern our lives – and the matching Life Skills that make it work. (more…)

As Salaamu Alaykum
Final Exams for the year 2010 / 1431 AH is underway (for grades 3 and up). We know that exams have come in between Eid ul Adha, there is nothing you can do but STUDY! Please kids, study! Afterall it’s not like you have to prepare the Eid lunch. The parents, mums however DO.
So mums, I know that you have alot on your plate, but revision of madrasah work IS VERY IMPORTANT. Please find the time and be disciplined yourself to facilitate revision with your child / children. Most kids are not just going to studiously take their books out and revise without supervision of the parent. Parents usually have to talk till they’re blue in the face… That’s normal kids for you. So parents, although you are not the one’s writing the exam, you have to study with your kids if you want discipline in your child’s life and good results.
May Allah make it easy on all the parents out there.

As Salaamu Alaykum
We hope that all our students are doing thorough revision of their work at home. End of second term exams are round the corner. Tell the kids to study hard! It’s great to see so many enthusiastic young students in their Islamic studies, especially Grade 11 students. These days, so much emphasis is put on school that it completely overshadows Islamic studies. This emphasis is made by the parents and thus the child grows accustomed to this mind-set. The youth in the prime of their exciting lives sometimes forget the bigger picture in life, who has time to think about Allah? Parents sometimes say, “Never mind, we were young once upon a time too”. Dear Parents remember, Allah remembers YOU when you remember Him!
To all the parents, those of you who are (more…)

Madrasah Ummul Hasanaat is not just a madrasah about teaching children islamic education but we expect parents to also get involved. One appeal to parents is to share your thoughts, ideas and comments on our website. Parents may not have the time to write an article but some form of contribution to our site will be greatly appreciated, especially when a child sees his or her parent’s interest in what they are doing.
Whether a comment, article, post, thought or idea – please let us know. Show your kids you do care.

Muallimah Kaashifa Asmal Jamal began teaching in 1998. In 2001 she agreed to privately tutor a boy diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and has grown day by day. Muallimah holds a special place in her heart for all her students. One would ask where does she draw her strength from other than turning to Allah?
