Ramadhaan is here! When I heard a few minutes ago that the hilaal has been sighted, I shouted “Allahu Akbar!” and the tears just started to run down my face. I am so grateful that Allah has kept me on earth to experience another glorious month. I keep reading that Ramadhaan du’a (the one we posted). I want this to be a spiritually uplifting Ramadhaan for me.
If we were completing one Qur’aan in other months, let’s make it two. Whatever good we were doing, let’s increase. Ladies, let’s chill off the phones a bit and get engaged in thikrullah and salawaat instead. Young ones, let our fingers be busy in the remembrance of Allah turning the pages of the Qur’aan rather than on our Blackberrys and iPhones, etc. Let’s stop talking about people’s faults and love each other for Allah’s sake and cover each other’s faults. Let us give preference of ‘ibaadah over business. Let’s make the effort in the cold (here in South africa), or whatever difficulty there may be, let’s sacrifice it all for this Shahr Mubaarak, Shahrul Qur’aan - Ramadhaan. We will wake for thee Allah,….. Click here to Read More

May Allah bless us on this auspicious night. It is a night of prayer, so remember us in your du’as. Have a great day tomorrow Insha’allah and when you see the sacrificial animal waiting to be slaughtered, remember what Ibraheem (Alayhis Salaam) had to undergo! We already feel pain just by looking at the eyes of the animal who knows its going to be slaughtered for Allah, imagine if that was a child… Imagine if it were yours! Unbearable, but that was the test of Ibraheem (Alayhis Salaam) earning him the title of “Khaleelullah”. The english language has no proper translation of the word Khaleel. It is not merely “a friend”. Our lesson on this day and every other day is (more…)

As Salaamu Alaykum
Final Exams for the year 2010 / 1431 AH is underway (for grades 3 and up). We know that exams have come in between Eid ul Adha, there is nothing you can do but STUDY! Please kids, study! Afterall it’s not like you have to prepare the Eid lunch. The parents, mums however DO.
So mums, I know that you have alot on your plate, but revision of madrasah work IS VERY IMPORTANT. Please find the time and be disciplined yourself to facilitate revision with your child / children. Most kids are not just going to studiously take their books out and revise without supervision of the parent. Parents usually have to talk till they’re blue in the face… That’s normal kids for you. So parents, although you are not the one’s writing the exam, you have to study with your kids if you want discipline in your child’s life and good results.
May Allah make it easy on all the parents out there.
Was Salaam

We hope that all our students are doing thorough revision of their work at home. End of second term exams are round the corner. Study hard! It’s great to see so many enthusiastic youngsters in their Islamic studies, especially Grade 11 students. We realise your tiring school work load and yet you still attend punctually and learn with great “zeal and enthusiasm”. I like to use the word “Hirs” in Arabic. May Allah be pleased with you all! These days, so much emphasis is put on school that it completely overshadows Islamic studies. The youth in the prime of their exciting lives many a time, forget the bigger picture in life, who has time to think about Allah? Remember, Allah remembers YOU when you remember Him!
